Moderators will reserve the right to edit, cajole and limit self-serving or unfocused rambling so the group can productively use the time to connect and share needs and ideas

Tough Lessons in Smart Home Implementation
Smart home deployments bring a new level of technical and operational complexity that challenges most organizations. We’ll ask volunteers to share their lessons in contracts, infrastructure, information security, resident reactions and supply chain management to flesh out the real world cost of innovation. Smart homes require unprecedented collaboration between operations, maintenance, sales, vendors, IT, marketing, residents and other contractors. We’ll save some time to talk about the project management leadership required to make it all come together as planned, and on time.

Proptech Investment Updates
VC and tech company joint update on customer milestones, hurdles, funding and future plans. We’ll ask investors to lay out their initial investment thesis, metrics and perspectives, and how those have shifted as the market responded to the product and company. We’ll dive into the symbiosis between investor, innovator and key customers and interact with the audience to share their thoughts and experiences. Key takeaways will include understanding how capital thinks about young companies, and what they actually end up with once the initial funding burns through.

Startup Collaboration Showcase
The new startup presentation is evolving. We’ll ask each table of attendees to visit for 10 minutes with a rotating cast of six to eight startups. Each startup company will share a short presentation before the conference for attendees top prepare. Then at MTEC, the group will have 10 minutes to ask questions, network, and offer tips, thoughts and connections. Each table will have its own personalized experience of quick interactions with innovators, who may have opportunities for them to invest, implement or become vendors to the presenters.

Deep Dive Tech Presentations
MTEC is about expanding minds and seeing new possibilities. Our Deep Dive presentations are designed to introduce new, relevant concepts to the audience, and to give investors and customers more time to think and probe about novel concepts that could meaningfully impact the business. Our diverse invitees this year span smarter locks (VirtualKEY), revolutionary building materials (Baumatix), onsite convenience store (Stockwell) and digital securities (Harbor).
Each presenter will be asked to visually tell the story of their company - whether with images, a storyline or a live demonstration. We want the audience to experience the novelty, not just hear it described in words. The goal for everyone present is to think differently about working with, investing in or supporting these companies that truly have different takes on the way that the built world operates.

Meet the VC's - Lightning Round
MTEC will close with a quick round of stage introductions of some of the leading proptech investors in our space. We’ll ask selected VCs, angels and private equity investors to introduce themselves and their work in 3 minute blurbs. Each investor will be asked to share information including:
Their experience in proptech
Representative investments to date
Investment parameters (stage, size, role)
Best suggestion on pitching them
The value they bring to their portfolio companies beyond capital
The goal of this session is to deepen connections to venture capital for both technology entrepreneurs and strategic early adopters that want to find new ways to collaborate on the evolving property technology experience.
